The authentic taste of West Sumatra gained worldwide recognition, as Rendang, a beef dish simmered in coconut milk and spices, the signature dish of Padang in West Sumatra was crowned ‘World’s Most Delicious Food’ on “Your pick: World's 50 most delicious foods”, the list issued by cnngo.com on September 7th, 2011. Placed second after Rendang is Indonesia’s equally popular dish, - and one of the favorite dishes of Barrack Obama, President of the United States - namely Nasi Goreng or fried rice. While Satay, another staple Indonesian dish of charcoal grilled skewered meat or chicken cubes, also stood proud at No. 14.
